Family of Female Student Victim in Ashari Molestation Case Intimidated to Withdraw Police Report
The family of the female student suspected to be a victim of molestation by Ashari bin Karsana, the founder of Pondok Pesantren Ndholo Kusumo in Pati Regency, Central Java, claim to have been intimidated. They were threatened with counter-charges if they did not withdraw the police report against Ashari.
This was revealed by H (52 years old), the father of the female student with initials FA, who is the alleged victim of the molestation by Ashari. H stated that he reported the suspected molestation case by Ashari to the Pati Police Resort in July 2024. The report was made after FA told H what she had experienced.
Around two months after the report, H’s residence was visited by an unknown person. H suspects that the individual was instructed by or has a family connection to Ashari. “I was intimidated, essentially to withdraw my report. I replied that I would not withdraw my report no matter what, whatever happens,” said H when giving a statement to the media in Semarang City on Friday (8/5/2026).
H claims to be determined to defend his daughter through legal means. Moreover, H believes that not only his daughter was a victim of Ashari’s sexual violence. This is because after FA recounted her experience, H confirmed with several other female students at Ponpes Ndholo Kusumo.
Several female students whom H met also admitted to being victims of Ashari’s molestation. “I know that there are many victims there besides my child,” said H.
H revealed that when the person suspected to be acting on Ashari’s orders visited his home, the individual spoke in a loud and harsh tone. Nevertheless, H claims he was not intimidated. The person then threatened H.
“The threat was that my report would eventually be disproven and I would be countersued,” said H.
According to H, he was not visited just once by unknown individuals who issued threats to withdraw the report against Ashari. “I count it as three times,” he said.
H explained that his daughter FA began studying at Ponpes Ndholo Kusumo in 2017, when she was in seventh grade. The educational institution at Ponpes Ndholo Kusumo consists of kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, and senior high school.
H stated that his daughter experienced molestation and sexual violence from 2020 to 2024. “My hope from the beginning, in fighting for all victims, is that the perpetrator is punished as severely as possible,” he said.
