The government has confirmed that the families of three TNI soldiers who perished in the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon will receive compensation of around IDR 1.8 billion per person. This policy serves as a form of appreciation for their dedication in the international mission.

The three fallen TNI soldiers are Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant First Class Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, and Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon. They were serving in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission in southern Lebanon.

TNI Commander General Agus Subianto emphasised that all rights of the fallen soldiers will be provided to their families.

“In addition to cash compensation, the three fallen soldiers will also receive Extraordinary Promotion for Non-War Military Operations Posthumously (KPLB OMSPA) and the Dag Hammarskjold Medal,” said General Agus Subianto, TNI Commander.

The amount of compensation received by each family even exceeds IDR 1.8 billion, derived from various components such as insurance, death risk compensation, UN assistance, and internal TNI funds.

Agus detailed the total compensation for Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar at IDR 1,894,688,236, for Sergeant First Class Muhammad Nur Ikhwan at IDR 1,846,309,049, and for Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon at IDR 1,854,075,205.

In addition to monetary compensation, the families will receive:

Full salary for 12 months

Widow’s pension after the salary period ends

Scholarships for the soldiers’ children

This tragic incident occurred amid a series of attacks in southern Lebanon involving conflict between Israel and armed groups in the region.

Initially, Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon was killed on 29 March 2026 after a projectile exploded near the peacekeeping force’s position in the Adchit al-Qusayr area.

The following day, the other two soldiers died when an explosion struck the UNIFIL logistics convoy near Bani Hayyan. In that incident, two other soldiers were also injured.

These attacks are suspected to be related to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanon-Israel border.

Several parties have strongly condemned the incident.

The Indonesian government has expressed deep condolences over the deaths of the TNI soldiers in this humanitarian mission. The President has also paid tribute to their dedication in maintaining world peace.

On the other hand, Indonesia has urged a thorough investigation into the attack that killed UNIFIL personnel, given their status as UN peacekeeping forces.

The provision of IDR 1.8 billion compensation to the families of the TNI soldiers who fell in Lebanon serves as a form of national honour for their sacrifice. This incident also highlights the significant risks faced by peacekeeping forces amid ongoing armed conflicts in the Middle East.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has expressed condolences over the three TNI soldiers who fell in southern Lebanon while carrying out the UN peacekeeping mission with UNIFIL.

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs has urged the UN to be transparent regarding the attack in Lebanon that killed TNI soldiers.
