Family of Disabled Man Bullied on TikTok Files Police Report Against Perpetrator
The family of a mentally disabled man from Mengwi, Badung, who became a victim of bullying on TikTok, has pursued legal action after mediation with the perpetrator reached a deadlock. This step was taken because the family assessed that the suspected perpetrator, initialled P, showed no remorse for her actions on social media.
“When we contacted her, the perpetrator was smirking, and we felt there was no sense of guilt; she even initially dodged coming to the house to resolve the issue. We threatened legal action if there was no good faith, only then did she get scared and agree to come, although late from the agreed time,” the victim’s younger sibling told detikBali on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Upon arriving at the victim’s home around 8:00 PM WITA on Tuesday (12/5/2026), the victim’s family deemed the suspected perpetrator’s facial expression as showing no moral burden despite having humiliated the victim. The family felt annoyed because the perpetrator focused more on begging not to be reported to the police rather than realising the impact of her actions.
“When she first spoke, she asked for help not to report to the police, so she came only out of fear, not guilt. When talked to, she wouldn’t look me in the eye or turn her head; she just bowed and couldn’t answer my questions,” explained the victim’s younger sibling.
The decision to proceed with the report to the Mengwi Police Sector was finally agreed upon by all family members after observing the perpetrator’s attitude during the meeting. “We are only carrying out what she feared because she has shown no empathy since we first called,” she asserted.
The family hopes that the case involving the Puspita account will serve as a lesson for the public to be wiser in using social media. They emphasise that people with disabilities should not be made the butt of jokes, let alone exploited for inappropriate content.
On the other hand, the victim’s psychological condition reportedly deteriorated when his home was crowded with relatives and youth community members offering support. The victim’s older sibling experienced a panic attack with his body shaking violently.
“Thankfully, my brother’s condition is now healthy, but last night when relatives came, he (the victim) also had shortness of breath and his body shook. My brother is the second child, and seeing his condition like that made our whole family sad,” concluded the victim’s younger sibling.
Previously, a TikTok live stream video triggered public anger after showing alleged exploitation of a mentally disabled man. In the video, a woman is suspected of asking the victim to show his genitals in front of the camera to chase entertainment content.
“I was reckless; yesterday there were many problems, and during the live stream, I unintentionally bullied like that. I apologise as much as possible to the victim and the public; I am very regretful and will not repeat it,” said the perpetrator, P, when previously confirmed.
The Mengwi Police Sector Chief, Kompol Anak Agung Gede Rai Darmayasa, confirmed that the victim’s family reported the incident on Tuesday night. The case has now been handed over to the Badung Police Resort for further investigation.
