Family in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Trapped Inside Wall Due to Land Dispute
SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - A family residing on Jalan Murjaya, Jurang Mangu Barat, Pondok Aren sub-district, South Tangerang City, became trapped inside their home after their access was blocked by a wall due to a land ownership dispute.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (14/4/2026) around 10:00 WIB, when the opposing party, along with several individuals suspected to be from a community organisation (ormas), arrived at the house.
One of the residents, Rafa (21), stated that mediation between the two parties had initially been conducted, facilitated by police from the Pondok Aren Police Sector.
However, shortly after the police left the location, the situation changed.
Rafa mentioned that about 10 to 15 minutes later, the group suspected to be from the ormas returned and immediately measured and sealed off the house’s access with a wall made of hebel bricks.
“They erected the wall in less than 10 minutes. So as soon as the police left, they came, did the measurement, and immediately walled it up,” he said.
At the time of the incident, around 10 to 20 people arrived and were suspected of being involved in the action.
They reportedly proceeded with the measurement without regard for the earlier mediation outcome.
“I already told them that mediation had taken place and there was no further movement. But they insisted on proceeding with the walling,” Rafa said.
“During the raid, my grandfather came out. Then, without saying anything, they started removing the items,” he explained.
As a result of the walling, the family’s activities were severely disrupted.
Vehicles consisting of one car and four motorcycles could not exit, and family members struggled to carry out their daily routines.
The incident continued until late at night. After erecting the wall, the area around the house occupied by Rafa and his family was guarded by the suspected ormas group.
During the guarding, the residents could not leave at all until 23:00 WIB.
Rafa and his family then rushed to the South Tangerang Police Resort to file a report that same night.
“Because we came that night and immediately filed the report at the South Tangerang Police Resort. But the report was only accepted in the early hours of 15 April, Wednesday,” he said.
However, he noted that handling from the South Tangerang Police Resort only began a week later, specifically on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
