The family has granted official permission and consent to the Polda Metro Jaya investigation team to carry out the exhumation of the late S in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday, in order to uncover the exact cause of death.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the entire grave-opening process, which began at 09.30 WIB, was carried out after obtaining full approval from the family.
“The family of the deceased has given official permission and consent for the exhumation to be carried out. We invite the public and media colleagues to give the family space for empathy,” said Budi in his statement on Wednesday.
He said the family’s approval was an important foundation for investigators from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, who collaborated with Polda Jawa Tengah and Polresta Banyumas, to follow up on the public report to the investigation stage.
“The exhumation process was carried out through three main stages, namely the opening of the grave, an external examination to confirm the identity of the body, and an examination of the internal organs by the Indonesian Association of Forensic and Medicolegal Doctors (PDFMI),” said Budi.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of PDFMI, Brigadier General Dr. Sumy Hastry Purwanti, said the handling of the body was carried out comprehensively together with toxicology, DNA, and anatomical histopathology experts to determine the cause of death.
“This examination is expected to help explain scientifically whether the death was natural or unnatural,” said Hastry.
