Family found dead while glamping at Temanggung tourist attraction, timeline details
A family from Ambarawa, Semarang regency, was found dead while glamping at Posong tourist attraction in Temanggung regency, Central Java. Police are currently investigating the incident.
’ confirmed four people have died at a tourist site in Temanggung. All four victims are members of a family residing in Panjang Village, Ambarawa subdistrict, Semarang regency,’ said Iptu Komang Mahendra Deputra, head of the Temanggung police Criminal Investigation Unit, during a statement to journalists at Temanggung regency hospital on Thursday (28 May 2026).
The victims are MAM (52), M (43), AEH (17), and BAH (21). Komang stated MAM and M worked as traders, while AEH and BAH were students.
According to police findings, the family from Ambarawa arrived at Posong tourist attraction on Tuesday (26 May 2026) around 10 PM and made a glamping reservation.
Unusual circumstances began the following day, Wednesday (27 May 2026) around 11:30 AM. A tourist site officer named Zaki went to the site to clean the area and remind them of check-out time but received no response from the glamping site.
At 3:45 PM, Zaki returned and knocked on the door. When there was still no response, he opened the door. ’ Upon opening the tent, four people were found dead, stiff. The officer then contacted the local police station and the scene was processed,’ said Iptu Komang.
Following the report, the Crime Investigation Unit and forensic team from Temanggung police headquarters immediately attended the scene. During the examination, evidence including barbecue equipment and leftover food brought by the victims was secured.
‘The exact cause of death is still under thorough investigation. The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team from Central JavaPolice is conducting autopsies to determine the medical cause of death,’ Komang added. ’ Samples of the food brought by the victims are being examined by the forensic laboratory team.’
