Family confirms reports of Cak Nun's death are a hoax

“Hoax again, mas,” said Yusron Aminullah, younger brother of Cak Nun, when contacted, as reported by detikJogja, on Wednesday (20 May 2026). Yusron said he read the news via instant messaging and asserted that Cak Nun is currently at home with his health continuing to improve. “Last admitted to hospital a year ago, his condition now continues to improve,” he said. Yusron declined to comment on the circulating hoax, noting that similar rumours have repeatedly circulated. “They happen often. Please just pray for him,” he said. Previously, Cak Nun was also reported to have died while undergoing treatment at RSUP Dr Sardjito in July 2023. At that time, the hospital confirmed the report was false. “Not true. (Cak Nun) is still being treated at RSUP Dr Sardjito,” said Banu Hermawan, Head of the Legal, Organisation, and Public Relations Directorate at RSUP Dr Sardjito, as quoted by detikJogja on Saturday, 29 July 2023.”
