A doctor named Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Icha (27), was found dead by hanging, allegedly suffering from depression after being intimidated by two members of the Timor Tenggara Utara (TTU) Regional House of Representatives. The family claims the two legislators were suspected of being drunk during the intimidation, based on examinations of 23 witnesses.

“After we investigated, around 23 witnesses said there was a smell of alcohol when they entered the emergency room. These 23 people are ready to be witnesses if we proceed with a criminal report,” said family spokesperson Fabianus Banase at the funeral home in RSS Baumata, Kupang Regency.

According to Fabianus, the incident began when two TTU DPRD members, Norbertus Tubani and Therensius Lazakar, visited the Leona Hospital emergency room regarding the treatment of a child patient with a snake bite. Based on statements from witnesses at the scene, both legislators smelled of alcohol.

“According to witnesses who were at Leona Hospital at the time, Robertus Tubani and Terensius Lazakar had consumed alcohol. When they spoke face-to-face with the doctor and other medical staff, their mouths smelled of alcohol,” Fabianus stated.

In addition to testimony from medical staff and others present, the family also claims to have received photographic documentation taken during the incident. “When they shouted at Icha, there was a smell of alcohol. There are also photos that were sent to us as a family,” he said.

The family also regrets the absence of CCTV in the emergency room area of Leona Kefamenanu Hospital. According to Fabianus, this condition complicates the process of gathering evidence should the case proceed to legal proceedings.
