Families urged not to collect Hajj pilgrims at Soekarno-Hatta Airport
Tangerang (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport branch in Tangerang, Banten has urged families of Hajj pilgrims not to collect them directly at the airport terminal to avoid congestion.
“The public is urged not to collect pilgrims directly at the arrival terminal to avoid congestion and ensure smooth operations,” said General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) Tangerang, Heru Karyadi, in Tangerang on Monday.
He added that families seeking to collect their relatives should go directly to the assembly points or debarkation centres in their respective districts or cities.
To ensure smooth arrival flows, pilgrims arriving at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will first be transported to debarkation points before returning to their hometowns to meet families.
“We will maintain coordination and service readiness to ensure all repatriation processes run smoothly until the final group arrives,” he said.
He explained that all supporting facilities, including arrival areas, baggage handling systems, health facilities, and vehicle and bus arrangements for transporting pilgrims to their respective debarkation points, are ready to operate.
Additionally, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is strengthening coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure each stage of the Hajj repatriation proceeds smoothly.
“Collaboration among all stakeholders is key to the success of Hajj operations,” he added.
The first phase of Hajj pilgrim repatriation to Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta Airport begins on 1 June 2026 with two debarkation points, Pondok Gede and Bekasi, serving 836 pilgrims – 391 from Pondok Gede and 445 from Bekasi – operated by Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines.
“The Hajj repatriation phase commences on 1 June 2026 at Terminal 2F with the first group arriving from Jeddah,” he said.
He explained that Soekarno-Hatta Airport is scheduled to handle 34,853 pilgrims between 1 and 30 June 2026. In total, 84 flight groups (kloters) will be processed, comprising 8,701 from Pondok Gede Debarkation, 12,092 from Bekasi Debarkation, 9,096 from Banten Debarkation, and 4,964 transiting to Lampung.
