The Shadow Home Secretary and Conservative MP, Chris Philp, has called for the American DJ and producer Zubeyda Muzeyyen, known as DJ Haram, to be banned from entering the UK. This call comes after DJ Haram made pro-Palestine statements during a performance in Australia. The performance took place last month as part of the 25th edition of the Sydney Biennale. During her set on stage, DJ Haram expressed support for the people of Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Sudan, and Syria. She also chanted the pro-Palestine slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”. The New Jersey-based DJ also condemned the high number of civilian casualties from attacks in Palestine and Lebanon, and dedicated her performance to several pro-Palestine activists. She also expressed her rejection of what she termed “artwashing genocide”. “It is our duty to protect this planet, and our duty to oppose Zionist-Australian-Epstein power. Until Palestine is free, none of us are truly free,” said DJ Haram during her performance in Australia, as reported by NME on Wednesday (15/4/2026). These statements have prompted an investigation by Australian police. The New South Wales Police Commissioner, Mal Lanyon, emphasised that freedom of speech remains an important value in the country. To date, no results from the investigation have been released. Meanwhile, Jewish News claims that DJ Haram’s comments could impact her plans to perform in the UK. Chris Philp is reported to have asked the government to ban her from performing, citing concerns over alleged antisemitism and the promotion of terrorism.
