An eight-metre kicopong tree fell and crushed a stall and a unit of urban transport (angkot) at Simpang Talang, Bogor City. The fallen tree temporarily paralysed traffic flow. “This kicopong tree fell onto a stall building and a four-wheeled vehicle, public transport route 32, causing moderate damage,” said Bogor City BPBD Chief Executive Dimas Tiko Prahadisasongko on Tuesday (23/6/2026). Dimas stated that residents reported the fallen tree occurred around 07.00 WIB. The tree fall was suspected to have been caused by prolonged heavy rain at the location. “The fallen tree had a height of approximately 8 metres and a trunk diameter of around 50 cm. The cause was high-intensity rainfall in the area,” Dimas said. The fallen tree caused traffic congestion from the Cibinong direction towards Simpang BORR. The congestion was worsened by a broken-down truck in the opposite lane, heading from Simpang BORR towards Simpang Talang. “As a result of this incident, traffic flow experienced congestion. Transportation Agency officers and police were at the scene to ease traffic and secure the evacuation process,” Dimas said. “The evacuation process is complete. The assessment and cutting of the fallen tree have been completed. Traffic flow conditions have returned to normal,” he added.
