Fake Prosecutor Arrested After Impersonating Official to Marry Woman
The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) Security and Personnel Affairs Division successfully arrested a fake prosecutor identified by initials IRV. The suspect claimed to be an official at the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati DKI Jakarta) in order to marry a woman.
“IRV was arrested in Bogor Regency,” said Nur Sricahyawijaya, Head of Legal Information at Kejati Jabar, in a written statement on Tuesday, 17 March.
Nur stated that IRV was monitored using the Prosecutor’s Office surveillance technology before being apprehended. During the arrest, officers seized items resembling Prosecutor’s Office uniforms and fake identity documents bearing the name Irfan Iskandar.
“Subsequently, the Security and Personnel Affairs Division team took and handed over IRV for further legal proceedings to the Depok Police Resort,” Nur said.
In this case, IRV is alleged to have falsely claimed to be the Director of Investigation at the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect even posed as a senior official at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung).
The fake identity and position were used by IRV to deceive the woman. The suspect invited the victim to marry him and had already conducted a pre-wedding photo session wearing a prosecutor’s uniform.
“He deceived the victim and promised to marry her, even conducting a pre-wedding photo session in a Prosecutor’s Office uniform,” Nur stated.
The victim noticed numerous inconsistencies during their relationship. To verify his employment, the victim ultimately visited the Attorney General’s Office to confirm IRV’s position.
“The Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the person with the initials IRV is not an employee of the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office,” Nur said.
