A 22-year-old man with the initials MS was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Kuningan Police following allegations of fraud and embezzlement after impersonating a police officer with the rank of Junior Commissioner (AKP).

“We have secured a suspected perpetrator with the initials M, who claims to be a member of the Indonesian National Police with the rank of AKP and bearing Brimob insignia,” said the head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Kuningan Police, Senior Inspector Abdul Azis, on Monday afternoon, 23 February 2026.

In his scheme, the fake police officer defrauded residents by promising he could secure them employment at Pertamina Balongan Indramayu, but demanded payment of 100 million rupiah as a condition.

To convince his victims, the perpetrator frequently wore a complete Brimob uniform with the three-bar insignia of an AKP rank. Additionally, he equipped himself with a lighter shaped like a pistol and an air rifle resembling a long-barreled firearm such as an AK-47.

To further convince his victims, the perpetrator also carried documents containing purported employment completion certificates for Pertamina Balongan issued in the victims’ names. He also provided Pertamina uniforms and logos to the victims.
