'Fake fishing licenses rampant'

JAKARTA: The Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs said
on Monday that fake fishing licenses were common in the country.

Director for Fisheries Business Services Purwanto said 51 of
66 licenses that had been checked by the government were fake.

To help minimize the practice of faking fishing licenses, the
ministry would verify vessel ownership, said Purwanto.

Meanwhile, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Rokhmin
Dahuri said the government would implement a plan to have a one-
roof system for fishing license applications.

"It will help prevent illegal fishing and increase the
country's income," he said. --Antara
