Fake ABRI officer arrested

JAKARTA (JP): A man was arrested Thursday for posing as a navy captain on Jl. Dewi Sartika, Cililitan, East Jakarta.

He could not show any identification and was not wearing a proper uniform, City Military Command spokesman Lt. Col. D.J. Nachrowi said Thursday.

"He is still being intensively questioned," Nachrowi said of the suspect, identified as Yudhi Prasetyo, who was arrested in a raid.

The raid on military personnel was conducted from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and involved 17 military police officers. Besides the suspected fake officer, the raid netted three cars and eight motorcycles with military number plates, which lacked documents.

Commander of military police Col. CPM Hendardji said the raid was routine "and was a follow-up to instructions by City Military Commander (Maj. Gen. Sutiyoso) to improve ABRI's image". (anr)
