Faizal Assegaf Reports KPK Spokesperson to Oversight Board
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Faizal Assegaf, the Director of PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri, has reported the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to the KPK Oversight Board (Dewas). “Our report is specifically directed at Budi Prasetyo personally, as we suspect he used KPK facilities to shape opinions that do not align with the facts,” Faizal stated at the KPK Anti-Corruption Education Centre in Jakarta on Wednesday. Faizal suspects that Budi made statements inconsistent with the facts concerning KPK’s examination of him in the investigation into alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance. “This includes the most recent claim of major slander and lies that the KPK had seized items from us,” he said. Therefore, he reported Budi to the KPK Dewas and hopes that the oversight body for the anti-corruption institution will respond to the report. “We hope the Dewas, formed with public participation to ensure transparency in law enforcement, particularly for the KPK, will promptly respond to our report,” he added. Previously, on 4 February 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance. On the same date, the KPK revealed that one of those arrested in the OTT was Rizal, Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office. On 5 February 2026, the KPK announced that six out of 17 individuals arrested were designated as suspects in the alleged bribery and gratification case related to the importation of counterfeit or imitation goods within Customs and Excise. They are Rizal (RZL), Director of Enforcement and Investigation for Customs and Excise from 2024 to January 2026; Sisprian Subiaksono (SIS), Head of the Sub-Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation Intelligence for Customs and Excise; and Orlando Hamonangan (ORL), Head of the Customs Intelligence Section. Additionally, John Field (JF), owner of Blueray Cargo; Andri (AND), Chairman of the Import Documentation Team for Blueray Cargo; and Dedy Kurniawan (DK), Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo. On 26 February 2026, the KPK announced Budiman Bayu Prasojo (BBP), Head of the Excise Intelligence Section of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation for Customs and Excise, as a new suspect in the case. On 27 February 2026, the KPK announced it was deepening investigations into alleged corruption in excise management, particularly following the seizure of Rp5.19 billion in five suitcases from a safe house in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, suspected to originate from customs and excise activities. Subsequently, on 7 April 2026, Faizal Assegaf was examined by the KPK. Then, on 14 April 2026, he reported the KPK spokesperson’s statements regarding the examination material to the Metro Jaya Police (Polda Metro Jaya), feeling defamed.
