Faizal Assegaf Praises Prabowo Over Febrie Adriansyah Case: A Historic Step

Political critic Faizal Assegaf has praised President Prabowo Subianto regarding the handling of three corruption cases implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. Faizal stated that the uncovering of this case has successfully revived public morale. “Public morale has risen and affirms appreciation for the President regarding the Febrie case,” Faizal said when contacted on Sunday (12/7/2026). He said the disclosure of the case received a very positive response from the public. According to him, the firm steps taken by the government under Prabowo’s leadership have garnered much praise. “This is a historic and highly strategic step for the future roadmap of law enforcement,” he continued. Faizal said the exposure of the Febrie case represents a positive leap in law enforcement that is both principled and fundamental. “The President is receiving positive attention from the public,” Faizal stated. “So, this is a roadmap that carves out an increasingly strong bond between the people and the President, tied by a revival of commitment to law enforcement,” he added. He hopes Prabowo and the people can unite and merge to push the law enforcement process in the Febrie Adriansyah case so it does not stall halfway. On the same occasion, Faizal also praised the transfer of three corruption cases from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). With this transfer, he explained, the integrity commitment of the Attorney General’s Office will truly be tested. “That is actually good, to test the commitment of the Attorney General’s Office, right? So there is no selective prosecution. This is a momentum for the Attorney General’s Office to uphold the supremacy of law objectively, without picking and choosing. So, the police’s step of handing the case over to the Attorney General’s Office is indeed the proper procedure,” he concluded. Previously, Chairman of House of Representatives Commission III, Habiburokhman, revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s message regarding the alleged corruption case involving Febrie Adriansyah. Prabowo wants all law enforcement officers to remain solid and work maximally. “Basically, Mr. Prabowo certainly wants the law enforcers to be solid, all out. And earlier we have already committed to being solid. I brought together Kortas and Jampidsus, God willing, we are solid,” said Habiburokhman at the Senayan complex, Jakarta, on Saturday (11/7/2026). House Commission III has decided to form a working committee (panja) to oversee the handling of the case dragging in Febrie Adriansyah. Habiburokhman said the panja will summon all parties related to the case. “Everyone will be summoned,” he said when asked about the parties to be called by the Commission III Panja. Commission III of the House ensured it will give full attention to the legal process concerning the coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel corruption cases. Habiburokhman stressed that the cases, which have prominently implicated law enforcement officers, are related to individuals rather than institutions. “There are several things announced. First, Commission III is taking the initiative to ensure that the cases widely reported recently can proceed within the legal corridor and be thoroughly investigated according to the law,” said Habiburokhman during a press conference held at the Attorney General’s Office complex in South Jakarta on Saturday (11/7/2026). Habiburokhman affirmed that his party will oversee the investigation to prevent any actions exceeding legal authority between law enforcement institutions during the investigation of this case. “Second, we also want to ensure there are no excesses, friction, or clashes between institutions regarding the handling of this case. Because, after all, this is a case related to individuals, to people, to individuals, not to institutions,” he said. As is known, the Police’s Kortas Tipikor has named Febrie Adriansyah and Don Ritto as suspects in the alleged corruption case. The case files for both have now been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office. “At one point, we conducted a case review and based on that case review, we have named two suspects,” said Head of Kortas Tipikor Polri, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday (11/7/2026). For suspect Don Ritto, Kortas Tipikor has charged him under Article 4 and/or Article 5 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 8 of 2010 or Article 607 paragraph 1 letters b and c of the Criminal Code. “We have also named Mr. FA in the case of alleged corruption and/or money laundering crimes in the legal handling process by civil servants or state officials in the PT ASABRI case and/or other corruption crimes as referred to in Article 12 letter b, Article 12 B of the Corruption Eradication Law, and Article 3, 4 of the Money Laundering Law or the Criminal Code charge of Article 607 paragraph 1 letters a and b,” Totok explained. Suspect DR has been detained since 10 July 2026 at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Centre before his case was transferred to the Attorney General’s Office.
