Failed Gang Fight in Jatinegara: 126 Youths Arrested, 49 Motorcycles Seized

JAKARTA – Combined personnel from the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and Jakarta Civil Guard (Satpol PP) arrested 126 youths conducting a convoy whilst carrying various attributes in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta, on Friday, 13 March 2026 evening.

From interrogation results, the hundreds of youths reportedly came from areas in West Jakarta and were suspected of planning to initiate a gang confrontation in East Jakarta.

“In anticipation and handling of the gang confrontation, 126 youths were secured, along with 49 motorcycles, 12 bottles of Molotov cocktails, six banners and flags, and six firecrackers. All individuals were directed to East Jakarta Police Headquarters,” said Teguh when confirmed on Saturday.

Three individuals were arrested comprising two street musicians and one female coffee vendor.

Officers also seized 27 large firecrackers with potential to disrupt environmental security during Operation Pekat.
