Fahmi to attend Golkar congress

JAKARTA: Despite a court ruling upholding his dismissal from
the Golkar Party, Fahmi Idris said he would attend the party
congress in Bali next month.

"I will go to the event because the organizational statute
stipulates that the congress can serve as a forum for me to
defend myself," he said on Thursday.

Fahmi, the manpower and transmigration minister, admitted he
had not been invited to the congress.

Golkar revoked Fahmi's and Marzuki Darusman's party membership
for challenging its decision to back former president Megawati
Soekarnoputri and Hasyim Muzadi in the Sept. 20 election runoff.
