Fadly Amran Distributes Aid to 270 Homes Affected by Floods

The Padang City Government has distributed aid to residents still affected by the flood and extreme weather disaster that occurred on 3 August 2026. The aid was symbolically handed over by Padang Mayor Fadly Amran at Lapau Munggu, Kuranji Village, Kuranji District, on Sunday, 9 August 2026. The assistance was provided to 270 affected homes spread across four districts. The breakdown includes 191 homes in Kuranji District, 45 homes in Nanggalo, 24 homes in Koto Tangah, and 10 homes in North Padang. Each household received Rp 2 million, bringing the total aid disbursed to Rp 540 million. The funds are sourced from the Padang City Regional Budget (APBD) and are intended to help residents meet their needs during the post-flood recovery process. Fadly stated that the aid represents the government’s attention to the community still affected by the disaster. The assistance is expected to help residents accelerate recovery after the floods hit several areas of Padang City. “Today we handed over aid to 270 homes still affected by the disaster in four districts. This data may still grow. Therefore, residents who have not yet been registered are asked to immediately coordinate with the local village and district heads,” said Fadly. Based on local government data collection, the flood on 3 August 2026 initially affected 6,618 homes. By 5 August 2026, a total of 6,348 homes had recovered, while 270 homes remained affected with minor damage levels, or below 20 percent. In addition to cash assistance, residents also received various supporting aid for daily needs. Cleaning equipment aid from Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming included brooms, mops, plastic bags, rubber mops, floor brushes, Wipol, and soap. Other aid in the form of basic necessities was also distributed to support the needs of affected residents. This aid included rice, sugar, bread, and various other necessities, as well as hygiene kits, blankets, baby food, folding mattresses, and cleaning equipment. The aid handover was also attended by Padang City Regional Secretary Raju Minropa, Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare Tarmizi Ismail, Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Hendri Zulviton, district heads from the four districts, and the aid recipient residents. Fadly expressed appreciation for the central government’s support in handling the disaster’s impact in Padang City. This support is considered to help the regional government meet the community’s needs while strengthening the post-disaster recovery process. “We express our gratitude to the central government, especially the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), for the support of aid and disaster handling equipment that has been provided. We hope the central government can immediately realise the handling and infrastructure development,” said Fadly. The Padang City Government will continue to collect data and monitor the condition of affected residents. Residents who have not yet been included in the data collection are also asked to immediately coordinate with the government at the village and district levels so that handling needs can be followed up.
