Fadli Zon urges regional governments to improve management of cultural assets
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon is urging regional governments to improve the management of cultural assets in their areas to attract more visitors and contribute to increased literacy and societal welfare.
“We are also encouraging provincial, regency, and city governments to improve their cultural assets, to enhance their museums and cultural heritage sites,” Fadli said in Jakarta on Monday.
He stated that regional governments could collaborate with the Ministry of Culture, other ministries and government agencies, as well as the private sector, in managing cultural assets in their regions.
Fadli conveyed that the Ministry of Culture supports efforts to revitalise and promote regional museums and cultural heritage sites to attract more visitors.
During 2025, the Ministry of Culture will revitalise 152 cultural heritage sites and museums in various regions, including the Gunongan Site in Aceh, Arjuna Temple in Central Java, Harimau Cave Museum in South Sumatra, and Kayu Jao Mosque in West Sumatra.
Additionally, the Ministry of Culture is partnering to revitalise the Sanggabuwana Stage in the Surakarta Palace and renovate the Ranggawarsita Tomb in Klaten.
The Ministry of Culture recorded a total of 4,322,507 visitors to 18 museums and 34 cultural heritage sites managed by the Technical Implementation Unit for Museums and Cultural Heritage during 2025.
According to Director General of Cultural Protection and Traditional Arts Restu Gunawan, this figure represents an increase from approximately 3.8 to 3.9 million in 2024.
