Fadli Zon showcases the cultural wealth of the Nusantara to Saudi Arabian officials

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Culture Minister Fadli Zon showcased the cultural wealth of the Nusantara to Saudi Arabia’s Culture Minister, Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud. According to a ministry press release confirmed on Wednesday, Fadli Zon accompanied the Saudi Culture Minister in visiting the National Museum and the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta to view collections of Indonesian cultural heritage and exhibition spaces for artworks. The Indonesian Culture Minister explained the history of the Nusantara civilisation to Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud while examining historical artefacts from the museum’s collection and the Misykat Exhibition, which highlights the history of Islam in Indonesia. “Indonesia is one of the key regions in the study of human evolution, as reflected in important findings such as Homo erectus in Java, and it serves as a space for encounters of various migrations and cultural developments since prehistoric times,” he explained. The Indonesian Culture Minister and the Saudi Culture Minister, during their visit to the National Gallery of Indonesia, inspected exhibition rooms featuring artworks, including a space displaying paintings by maestros Raden Saleh and Affandi. They also viewed the Indonesian Women Artists #4 on the Map: Art, Science, Technology, and Culture exhibition, which features works by 12 women. Prior to the visit, the Indonesian Culture Minister and the Saudi Culture Minister discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture, including strengthening collaboration in the protection and rehabilitation of cultural heritage, the development of film and literature, and artist exchanges.
