Fadli Zon Receives Honorary Muna Adat Title 'Sangia Tilano Lia Metaduno', Here is Its Meaning

Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon has received the honorary Muna Adat title of Sangia Tialno Lia Mentaduno from the Muna Adat Council and traditional leaders in Southeast Sulawesi. The honorary Muna adat title Sangia Tilano Lia Metanduno is a sacred nobility title bestowed by the traditional apparatus of the Muna Kingdom. Literally in the Muna language, this title means a protective leader who is radiant, wise, and a role model for the wider community. ‘Sangia’ refers to a respected, revered, prudent, and wise leader figure. ‘Tilano Lia’ means the one who shines from within the cave or light emanating from the depths, and ‘Metanduno’ refers to the historic site of Liang Metanduno, an important historical site in Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, which symbolises strength, protection, and the history of civilisation. Chairman of the Muna Adat Council La Ode Muhammad Ruslan stated that the conferment of the honorary Muna adat title to Fadli Zon is a tribute for the establishment of the oldest cave paintings in Liang Metanduno, Liangkabori Cave, Muna, as the oldest paintings in the world during his tenure as Minister of Culture. He expressed hope that the granting of the honorary adat title would foster closer ties between Minister Fadli Zon and the entire Muna community across Indonesia. He also extended appreciation and thanks to the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi and the Regent of Muna, during whose leadership the ancient cave paintings were recognised as the oldest in the world.
