Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated that film can serve as a reflection of the nation’s journey, created through the hard work and prayers of filmmakers and film industry professionals. “Film is an unflinching mirror in capturing the nation’s pulse. Behind every frame is a prayer, hard work, and idealism from film professionals who weave Indonesia’s identity,” said Fadli, quoted from the Instagram page of Balai Budaya in Jakarta on Tuesday. He also invited the wider public to use cinema screens as a place to pour out ideas and dreams. “Let us continue to make cinema screens a space for diverse voices, a place where the dreams of the nation’s children find a home, and our history endures in the world’s visual memory,” he said. The Minister of Culture also appreciated Indonesian film professionals who have created works presenting stories through film. Previously, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasised that film plays a role as the nation’s soft power, particularly in advancing culture (20/12). The Ministry of Culture is consistently strengthening the national film ecosystem through various strategic programmes, including providing Indonesian film funding through a matching fund scheme and facilitating the participation of Indonesian filmmakers in various international film festivals. He also stated that enthusiasm for domestic films remains high, with national audiences reaching approximately 59 million by the end of August 2025. Meanwhile, the number of Indonesian film screenings in cinemas throughout 2024 reached 81 million. The government consistently supports the development of the film industry, one of which is through support in the form of facilitation and programmes, including the National Talent Management (MTN) for Arts and Culture. The Ministry of Culture is committed to providing space and opportunities for Indonesian film talents to gain international recognition.
