Facts Reveal Makassar Rape Suspect Planned to Repeat Modus Operandi in Surabaya

New facts have emerged regarding the kidnapping and rape of a female university student in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The perpetrator, identified as Feri Bin Dg Rumpa (33), was apprehended by police after fleeing to Surabaya, East Java.

Investigations revealed that the suspect utilised fake job vacancies for babysitter positions to lure his victims. Police further disclosed that the suspect allegedly intended to repeat this modus operandi to target new victims in Surabaya.

The case began when the victim, identified by the initials MA (21), responded to a babysitter job advertisement on social media. She arrived at a rented house in the Metro Tanjung Bunga area, Tamalate District, Makassar, where the suspect instructed her to wait several days before officially starting work. During this waiting period, she was asked to work as a domestic assistant. However, on the third day, the suspect attacked her, using a cutter knife to threaten and rape her.

The victim was held captive in the rented house from Friday (8/5/2026) to Sunday (10/5/2026). Police reported that the victim suffered repeated violence and was found with her hands tied and her mouth taped. The crime came to light when the landlord arrived to check the property, which the suspect had only rented on a daily basis for the purpose of trapping victims.

Following the assault, the suspect fled with the victim’s motorcycle and mobile phone, which he subsequently sold for a total of Rp 3 million. The suspect has confessed to both the theft and the rape. Authorities are currently investigating whether there are other victims, noting that the suspect had a prior record of theft in Takalar Regency.
