Facts: Orphaned Woman Murdered and Dumped on Bogor Toll Road

A 25-year-old woman, AA, was found dead on Jalan Sholeh Iskandar in Tanahsereal District, Bogor City, West Java, following a murder. The victim was initially discovered in the Simpang Yasmin area near BCC, Bogor, in the early hours of Saturday (23 May) with her eyes covered by cloth and a cut wound on her neck. Police Commissioner Dody Rosjadi of Tanahsereal Police Station stated that the victim had gone out for coffee on Friday (22 May) around 22:00 WIB. Here are the key facts of the Bogor murder case: 1. Fleeing to evade police A video of the arrest of AA’s murderer, whose body was found on Jalan Sholeh Iskandar, has circulated on social media. The suspect, who stole the victim’s car, attempted to evade police pursuit. In the footage, the chase began on a toll road section. Police warned the suspect to surrender, but he ignored the warning and sped away in the victim’s red car before it overturned on the emergency lane, leading to his arrest. Commissioner Rio Wahyu Anggoro of Bogor City Police confirmed the circulating video depicted the suspect’s arrest. 2. Victim dumped from toll road CCTV footage circulating online shows the victim was thrown from the Bogor Outer Ring Road (BORR) toll road onto Jalan Sholis. Rio confirmed the suspect had dumped AA from the toll. “The CCTV footage of the victim being thrown from BORR is part of the same incident as the viral arrest on the toll road,” Rio told detikcom. The footage shows a car stopping on the elevated BORR toll road, followed by a person exiting the left door carrying something, throwing it off the toll, then re-entering the vehicle before speeding away. 3. Suspect charged The suspect in the murder of AA (25) was apprehended by Bogor City Police and West Java Provincial Police. The suspect has now been officially charged. “We have secured the suspect and formally charged him, along with collecting evidence,” said Police Commissioner Bagus Azi Lesmana Putra, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Bogor City Police, on Sunday (24 May). The suspect was arrested following a crash during a police chase on the toll road hours after the victim was found dead on Saturday (23 May). It was confirmed that the suspect threw AA from the BORR toll road onto Jalan Sholis. “Yes, the victim was thrown from the toll road down to Jalan Sholis. We will provide full details in tomorrow’s press release,” Azi added. 4. Victim’s long-time friend The victim’s family stated the suspect was a former schoolmate who had not seen each other in years, denying any romantic relationship. “If the suspect is a schoolmate, then he’s not her boyfriend. Again, he’s just a friend. Like when I meet schoolmates at reunions, we’re just friends, we chat and reconnect,” said Syamsudin (52), the victim’s uncle and adoptive father. Syamsudin confirmed AA had no issues with the suspect, stating they were long-time acquaintances. “There were no problems. I’m certain of it. I can confirm the victim and suspect were not in a relationship. I raised her from childhood, and they were schoolmates who hadn’t met in years,” he added. 5. Victim was orphan The family described AA as an orphan who worked hard to fund her education. Raised by her uncle after her parents’ deaths. “I want to reiterate that the victim was an orphan; both parents had passed away. I raised her from childhood, before school until she grew up. I was her guardian,” Syamsudin said. He added that AA was self-reliant, working while studying to earn her bachelor’s degree and known for her generosity among colleagues and family. “Her work ethic was strong. I educated her until high school, then she worked while studying. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree while working. To this day, she’s known for her generosity, especially within the family,” he said. Local resident Dian (51), who sells rice and coffee, said AA’s body was found on the road by a driver. She only learned of the incident after it went viral online. “I didn’t know about the incident; I close my stall at night and don’t stay here. I found out from customers saying it was trending online, and the location was indeed there,” Dian said.
