Facts on the Recruitment of 30,000 Indonesian Development Mobilisers to Manage Village Cooperatives

The Ministry of Defence will recruit 30,000 Indonesian development mobilisers (SPPI) to manage the Red and White Village Cooperatives (Koperasi Desa Merah Putih). These recruits will serve as managers for approximately 80,000 cooperatives targeted to commence operations in August 2026.

Deputy Minister of Defence Donny Ermawan Taufanto stated that prospective SPPI applicants will undergo a selection and training process administered by the Ministry of Defence.

SPPI to Manage up to 80,000 Cooperatives

Donny indicated that the recruited SPPI personnel will serve as managers for around 80,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives across various regions.

Recruitment Supported by Defence Ministry, Armed Forces, and Police

Donny noted that the SPPI recruitment and training process will be conducted with support from various institutions, including the Ministry of Defence, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).

Open to All Bachelor’s and Master’s Graduates

Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, Chief of the Information and Public Relations Bureau at the Ministry of Defence Secretariat, explained that SPPI recruitment for the Red and White Village Cooperatives is open to the public. All bachelor’s and master’s degree holders from any discipline may apply as prospective cooperative leaders. “Anyone may participate provided they meet the requirement of holding a bachelor’s degree,” said Rico when contacted on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Participants Will Undergo Selection and Training

Rico stated that prospective SPPI applicants will undergo a selection and training process administered by the Ministry of Defence. Those who pass will assume manager positions at Red and White Village Cooperatives in various regions.

SPPI Graduates Will Become Cooperative Managers

Rico said that participants who successfully complete the SPPI programme will be placed as managers at Red and White Village Cooperatives across various regions of Indonesia.

Recruitment Scheduled to Begin in June 2026

Rico indicated that the SPPI recruitment process for positions at Red and White Village Cooperatives is planned to commence in June 2026. The government is currently conducting inter-ministerial coordination and preparing implementation mechanisms.
