Facts on Prabowo's Fifth Cabinet Reshuffle

President Prabowo Subianto once again reshuffled the Red and White Cabinet on Monday, 27 April 2026. This reshuffle marks the fifth since the Gerindra Party chairman was inaugurated as head of state in October 2024. This time, several officials ousted from the government received new assignments. Additionally, there were position shifts for incumbent ministers with the arrival of new officials. Full details on the cabinet reshuffle are summarised below: Prabowo Inaugurates Six Officials At the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Prabowo inaugurated six officials and led the oath-taking ceremony. “That I, in carrying out my duties, will uphold the ethics of the position, working as best as possible with full responsibility,” said Prabowo, dictating the oath. Through this inauguration, Prabowo appointed the Chairman of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Trade Unions (KSPSI), Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, as Minister of Environment and Forestry as well as Head of the Environment Control Agency. Jumhur replaces the previous official, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, who was shifted to Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs. Hanif will assist the duties of Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, who is also his colleague in the National Mandate Party. In addition, Prabowo also inaugurated several officials outside ministerial positions. Muhammad Qodari was appointed as Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) of the Republic of Indonesia, replacing Angga Raka Prabowo. Qodari also left his previous position as head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP). Qodari’s former position is now filled by Indonesian National Army retiree, Dudung Abdurachman. Dudung also serves as Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for National Defence matters since the beginning of Prabowo’s administration. Prabowo also inaugurated Hasan Nasbi as Special Advisor to the President for Communication. Thus, Hasan officially returns to the Palace after previously leaving the Presidential Communication Office in April last year. Finally, Prabowo also appointed former Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers, Abdul Kadir Karding, as head of an agency. Karding, who was dismissed from his ministerial position in 2025, now serves as Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency. Dudung Abdurachman Promises 24-Hour Report Opening After being inaugurated as Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Dudung Abdurachman promised that the KSP under his leadership would be open in serving the public. He views the KSP as a bridge between citizens and the government. “So that whatever complaints (from the public), I will open 24-hour reports from the public,” said Dudung. He stated that this service is part of efforts to evaluate and monitor programmes of ministries and agencies. Hopefully, said Dudung, the KSP can collaborate with ministries to local governments in escorting President Prabowo’s programmes. New Tasks for Hasan Nasbi Special Advisor to the President for Communication, Hasan Nasbi, said he is returning to Prabowo’s side to serve as an assistant. He will work with the Government Communication Agency or Bakom, the new name for PCO, to the Ministry of Communication and Digital in carrying out special advisor duties. The goal, said Hasan, is to strengthen government communication. “So that messages intended for the public can be even better, reach much further, and be understood by the public,” he stated. Hasan also mentioned wanting to clarify untrue news. “Including, perhaps later from the government, it will certainly and must also straighten out things, news, understandings, or information that is untrue about the government,” he said. Prabowo and Rocky Gerung’s Interaction Academic Rocky Gerung visited the Presidential Palace in Jakarta to attend the inauguration of his colleague, Jumhur Hidayat. After the inauguration ceremony concluded, Rocky also shook hands and chatted with Prabowo. Prabowo appeared to shake hands with the new officials before approaching the guests, including Rocky who was standing with Great Institute Board of Directors Chairman Syahganda Nainggolan. Prabowo smiled when shaking hands with Rocky and Syahganda. They laughed several times during the brief conversation. Rocky also appeared to pat the arm and back of President Prabowo while smiling. According to Rocky, Prabowo referred to him as a dissident or someone not aligned with the government. “I shook hands with Mr Prabowo earlier, and Mr Prabowo is my old discussion partner, and he (said), ’Wow, Mr Rocky, thank you for coming, and it turns out Mr Rocky is still a dissident,” he said while recounting his experience. Rocky conveyed that Prabowo’s expression at the time showed he was joking. He also responded to Prabowo’s jest. “Am I a dissident,” said Rocky.
