Facts on Operational Electric Motorcycles for MBG
A video has recently gone viral on social media platform X regarding the procurement of motorcycles bearing the logo of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The video narrates that the electric motorcycles are intended to support the operations of the free nutritious meals programme, or MBG, in West Java only.
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, explained that the motorcycles were budgeted for in 2025 for the Heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) and have not yet been officially distributed.
“The procurement of these motorcycles is indeed included in the 2025 budget. Their function is to support the operations of the SPPG heads, but the motorcycles have not yet been distributed,” Dadan stated in an official remark in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4).
Dadan explained that the vehicles must undergo administrative processes as state-owned assets (BMN) before they can be distributed and used. The realisation of the motorcycle procurement is being carried out in stages, starting in December 2025.
Dadan clarified that the number of electric motorcycles procured for MBG operations does not reach 70,000 units. He stated that reports claiming up to 70,000 units are untrue or hoaxes.
“The information about 70,000 units is not true. The total realisation of electric motorcycles is 21,801 units out of 25,000 units ordered in 2025,” Dadan said.
The Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, said he would recheck the reports on the procurement of electric motorcycles for MBG operations. He admitted to not yet knowing about the procurement of tens of thousands of electric motorcycles for SPPG heads.
According to Purbaya, similar budgets had been proposed to the Ministry of Finance in the past but were rejected.
“Last year, we didn’t want to, we rejected buying too many computers and motorcycles, but now I don’t know yet,” he said. (Ant/H-4)
