Facts Behind the Free Nutritious Meal Poisoning at SD Sendangrejo, Blora

A mass food poisoning case following the consumption of a free nutritious meal (MBG) has recurred. The latest incident took place at Sendangrejo State Primary School, Ngawen District, Blora Regency, on Monday, 20 July 2026. Dozens of students suffered food poisoning after eating the MBG menu provided by the Bogowanti Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG). They were rushed to the Emergency Unit of the Ngawen Community Health Centre on the same day. Blora Regent Arief Rohman stated that all students have returned to their respective homes. “All have gone home and are being monitored; as of today, no further symptoms have appeared,” said Arief on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. To date, the cause of the poisoning in Blora is still being investigated by the regional government and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Here are the facts: At least 19 primary school students became victims in this poisoning case. The breakdown of affected students includes 3 from grade III, 7 from grade IV, 8 from grade V, and 1 from grade VI. They experienced symptoms of poisoning after consuming the MBG provided by the SPPG. The menu for SDN Sendangrejo students was prepared by SPPG Bogowati. The central kitchen served a menu consisting of white rice, yellow spiced eggs, a stir-fry of beans, carrots, and baby corn, grapes, and packaged milk. Initial reports suggest the poisoning was likely due to consuming milk that was not stored properly. Based on a copy of the investigation report from the Blora Health Office, SPPG Bogowati is managed by the Mitra Cendikia Waskita Foundation. The central kitchen supplying MBG to SDN Sendangrejo distributes meals to 2,341 recipients across various schools. Blora Regent Arief Rohman stated that the SPPG supplying MBG to SDN Sendangrejo has temporarily ceased operations. “Starting today, SPPG Bogowanti is temporarily closed,” he said on Monday. The Deputy for Systems and Governance at the National Nutrition Agency, Prima Yosephine Berliana Tumiur Hutapea, said they will investigate the cause of the MBG poisoning case at SDN Sendangrejo, Blora. She hopes the findings will improve MBG governance in the future. “We will cooperate with colleagues at the Ministry of Health and the local health office at the location of the MBG poisoning,” said Prima during a press conference at the BGN Office in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 21 July 2026.
