Facts Behind Passenger Slapped and Kicked on JakLingko South Jakarta: Perpetrator Recently Released from Psychiatric Hospital
Jakarta — A journey by Berliana (27) on the JakLingko 49 bus serving the Lebak Bulus-Cipulir route turned into an unpleasant experience. She became a victim of alleged assault by a fellow passenger with initials NS (30) in the Ulujami Raya area, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.
The incident began when Berliana was on board the JakLingko bus travelling from Bintaro towards Cipulir. She boarded from Bintaro and sat in the back row nearest the driver’s seat in a Grand Max vehicle with side-facing seating.
Initially, the perpetrator appeared to be an ordinary passenger. He even offered to help other passengers tap their electronic payment cards. “Suddenly he shouted at an elderly woman asking ‘do you want your card tapped or not?’, answering whatever was asked. Everyone noticed because he was shouting, and then I explained because the card machine was having errors,” Berliana recounted at Pesanggrahan Police Station in South Jakarta on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
According to Berliana, the tap machine appeared to be malfunctioning at the time because the green light that normally appears during the tapping process did not turn off. The increasingly uncomfortable situation caused some passengers to hand their cards to Berliana to give to the perpetrator so he could help them tap.
When Berliana attempted to help clear the way for the passenger, she claimed she was suddenly slapped by the perpetrator. “I was suddenly slapped on the left side. Then I was shocked, wondering why I was slapped. Then he responded saying things like ‘you ask me what I answer’, something like that,” she said.
Feeling annoyed with the perpetrator’s actions, Berliana then attempted to record the incident using her mobile phone.
