Facts and Timeline of the Bibi Kelinci Kemang Case: Initially Reported a Theft, Now the Owner Is a Suspect
The case involving the owner of Bibi Kelinci Kopitiam in Kemang, South Jakarta, Nabilah O’Brien, has come under public scrutiny after she was named a suspect. Previously she had reported a suspected theft carried out by a husband-and-wife duo at her restaurant. The matter began in September 2025 and ended with mutual accusations between the two parties. The situation became more complicated when the case also implicated the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE), ultimately resulting in Nabilah’s status as a suspect.
The incident began with a food order at the restaurant on 19 September 2025 at around 22:51 local time. The couple identified as Z and E arrived at the Bibi Kelinci Kopitiam in Kemang, South Jakarta. According to Nabilah’s lawyer, Goldie Natasya Swarovski, the couple ordered a total of 14 food and drink items, valued at around Rp530,000. However, after a lengthy wait, they allegedly entered the kitchen area, which is normally restricted to customers. “Shortly afterwards, the two individuals engaged in intimidating behaviour by forcing entry into the kitchen area, which is a restricted area for customers,” Goldie said at a press conference at the Bibi Kelinci restaurant on Friday, 7 March 2026.
A clash erupted inside the restaurant. The situation heated up. The restaurant staff said the couple sparked a commotion in the kitchen area. Goldie said one staff member even suffered violence. “Z punched the head chef Abdul Hamid on the right arm and struck the cooler while threatening to trash the restaurant,” she added. In addition, according to the restaurant staff, the couple directed a number of statements that were deemed verbal abuse toward staff.
They left without paying for the order. Around 00:00 local time, the couple reportedly left the restaurant without paying. One staff member even tried to chase them down with the card payment machine so that payment could be made on the spot. “Our staff pursued them with the card payment machine to obtain payment, but this was ignored,” Goldie said.
