Facts about Adies Kadir's Daughter Being Sworn in as DPR Member
The inauguration of Adela Kanasya Adies as a DPR member, replacing her father Adies Kadir, has drawn attention. Adela was appointed to fill the seat vacated by her father, who stepped down after being designated as a Constitutional Court judge in January 2026.
Adela’s inauguration and oath-taking were led directly by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani during the 18th Plenary Session of the Fifth Sitting Period of the 2025-2026 Session Year at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
“I swear by Allah that I will fulfil my duties as a member of the House of Representatives to the best of my ability and as justly as possible in accordance with statutory regulations, guided by Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” Adela stated in her oath.
Here are several interesting facts regarding Adela Adies’ ascension to the DPR seat:
Reason for Adela’s Inauguration
Adies Kadir and his daughter Adela Kadir are cadres of the Golkar Party. Both ran for DPR seats in the same electoral district, East Java I. At that time, Adies garnered the most votes. He was elected with 147,185 votes, followed by Adela in second place with 12,792 votes.
In accordance with the provisions for interim replacement under Law No. 17 of 2014 on the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (UU MD3), the replacement seat is given to the next highest vote-getter from the same party in the same electoral district.
Thus, once Adies Kadir left Senayan, Adela, who received the second-highest votes in the East Java 1 electoral district, automatically ascended to fill the position. Adela’s inauguration was also carried out based on Presidential Decree of Prabowo Subianto dated 22 April 2026 regarding the official interim replacement of the DPR member.
Adela Assigned to DPR Commission III
Golkar Party General Secretary Muhammad Sarmuji stated that Adela Kanasya Kadir will work in Commission III of the House of Representatives, which handles legal matters. “For the time being (Adela) will replace Mr Adies in Commission III. She will be placed later after we discuss with Ms Adela,” Sarmuji said when contacted on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
