Factory Fire in West Jakarta Unextinguished After 9 Hours; Firefighters Deploy Robot

The fire situation is currently in the cooling process, stated Saiful Kahfi, Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, on Monday (18/5/2026). The fire was reported at 2:23 PM WIB, with cooling operations commencing at 4:20 PM WIB.

As of nearly midnight, firefighters are still spraying water to ensure the flames are completely extinguished. Personnel are also dismantling materials inside the building to suppress any remaining embers. The estimated area affected by the fire is approximately 1,000 square metres.

A total of 22 fire engines and 133 personnel were deployed to the scene at Jalan Peternakan Raya, Gang Semut, Kapuk, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. The cause and chronology of the fire remain unknown, and there have been no reports regarding casualties in the incident.

Firefighters deployed a robot as an auxiliary tool to assist in extinguishing the fire. The robot was used to navigate the interior of the building to anticipate the presence of dangerous gases and other potential hazards.
