Factory Fire in Tangerang: Hours-Long Blaze Persists, No Casualties

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - More than 12 hours after the fire first broke out in the early hours of Thursday (28 May 2026), the blaze at a nugget and sausage factory in Cikupa, Tangerang Regency, had not been fully extinguished by Thursday afternoon. Thick smoke continued to rise from the factory site as firefighters struggled to contain the flames consuming buildings and piles of combustible materials. Tangerang Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Chief Achmad Taufik stated that his team encountered difficulties during the firefighting operation. The challenges were not due to water access but rather the extensive area and the accumulation of flammable materials. He added that as of 5pm WIB, personnel were still focusing on extinguishing and cooling remaining hotspots. ‘The team is still in the process of putting out the fire and awaiting further updates on-site,’ he said. However, authorities have yet to confirm the extent of the affected area as efforts to control the blaze continue. ‘For further details on this matter, we are still waiting for on-site information,’ Taufik added. Following the report, seven firefighting units were deployed to the scene. These units came from various areas of Tangerang Regency, including one from Pasar Kemis, one from Tigaraksa, two from Mako Curug, one from Balaraja, one from Rajeg, and one from Kelapa Dua. The units were mobilised to assist in extinguishing the fire, but the intensity of the flames prolonged the response time.
