Factory Employee in Bogor Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Copper Cables
Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing cables from a factory in the Cileungsi district of Bogor, West Java. The suspect was an employee of the factory itself.
“The perpetrator was arrested after being proven to have committed cable theft within the company’s premises,” said Cileungsi Police Chief Kompol Edison on Wednesday (22/7).
He stated that the arrest took place on Tuesday (21/7). According to him, the suspect had carried out the theft of cables at the same location multiple times.
“Based on the interrogation results, the perpetrator admitted to committing the theft at the same location five times,” he explained.
As a result of the theft, the factory suffered material losses amounting to tens of millions of rupiah. A number of items were also seized during the arrest.
“During the arrest, officers managed to secure evidence including nine pieces of copper metal, 64.4 metres of BC copper cable, seven copper clamps, and tools suspected to have been used to commit the theft,” he detailed.
The perpetrator has been taken to the police station for further examination. The police are currently continuing their investigation into the incident.
