The defendant in the murder case of a Mataram University (Unram) student, Radiet Adiansyah alias Radit, has denied the prosecutor’s accusations naming him as the perpetrator of the killing of Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra. Through his legal counsel, Radit was instead described as the victim in the matter. Radit’s legal counsel, Putri Maya Rumanti, assessed that the prosecutor failed to prove the murder charge against her client. According to her, the construction of the demand compiled by the prosecutor was merely a product of imagination. ‘Radit is not the perpetrator. Radit is the victim,’ said Putri while reading out the plea at the Mataram District Court on Thursday (4/6/2027). Putri considered the construction of the prosecutor’s demand against Radit to rely solely on speculative and imaginative elimination. According to her, such reasoning patterns have the potential to cause errors in the judicial process. ‘The public prosecutor’s demand, which only relies on speculative and imaginative reasoning such as ’if not the defendant, then who else is the perpetrator’, is very fragile and carries a high risk of triggering a miscarriage of justice. The public prosecutor’s reasoning in their demand sends a serious danger signal to the wider community,’ she stated. Putri addressed the prosecutor’s demand, which assessed Radit’s demeanour during the trial as acrobatic and unnatural. It also claimed he did not show empathy to the victim’s family because he frequently brought the Quran to court in order to appear the most pious and devout to cover up his actions. According to her, the prosecutor’s statement was full of prejudice. ‘A statement full of prejudice injures the values of justice and the principle of presumption of innocence in this trial. It also wounds the conscience of a mother or parent who educates their child, and hurts our hearts as Muslims,’ she said. Previously, Radit had been sentenced to a prison term of 13 years. ‘Sentencing the defendant to a prison term of 13 years,’ said Sulviany, representing the public prosecutor. The prosecutor stated Radit was proven to have murdered his girlfriend, in accordance with Article 458, paragraph (1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. ‘Declaring the defendant Radiet Adiansyah alias Radit legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the crime of murder as per the first charge of the public prosecutor,’ he mentioned. For information, the murder case occurred on Tuesday (26/8/2025) at Nipah Beach, Pemenang District, North Lombok, NTB. In this case, Radiet initially claimed that he and Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra were victims of a robbery. However, the results of the police investigation led to Radiet being named a suspect. The murder began when Radiet intended to rape the victim. However, the victim fought back, resulting in a fight between the victim and the perpetrator.
