Facilities Provided to Senen Railway Track Residents in Their New Homes

Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait inspected the progress of temporary housing (huntara) construction for residents living along the Senen railway tracks in Jakarta. During the visit, Maruarar was accompanied by Angkasa Pura President Director Muhammad Rizal Pahlevi. The government emphasised that building the huntara represents a quick step to provide more decent accommodation for the community. “We want to ensure that the community receives more decent, safe, and organised housing. This huntara is a quick solution while we prepare permanent arrangements,” said Ara, her familiar nickname, quoted on Sunday (19/4/2026). Maruarar stated that the huntara construction progress is running very well, even exceeding expectations. A total of 324 huntara units are being built, with a target completion date of 15 June 2026. She also highlighted several technical obstacles being addressed to ensure the project finishes on time. “There are indeed some issues like PDAM; I will directly coordinate with the Governor of DKI Jakarta. For PLN and Telkom, I will coordinate with Mr Rosan and Mr Doni. This must be resolved before 15 June,” she explained. The government assured that the huntara will not only be built quickly but also consider the comfort of the occupants. Each huntara unit will be equipped with several basic facilities, namely: “One huntara unit will be equipped with two beds, a wardrobe, and a fan. In addition, this area will also be equipped with supporting facilities such as a dining area, toilet, kitchen, mushola, and green open space,” she added. According to Maruarar, this huntara construction is part of urban area arrangements to make them more orderly, safe, and humane. She also expressed appreciation to several parties involved in accelerating the housing construction. “Thank you to the BUMN friends who have carried out President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to provide people’s housing quickly and accurately,” she said.
