Faces of TNI Members Who Threw Sulphuric Acid at Andrie Yunus
Jakarta Police have displayed photographs of the faces of two perpetrators who threw sulphuric acid at KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, captured on CCTV cameras.
Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanudin, stated that the faces of both perpetrators are clearly visible without any additional processing using artificial intelligence.
“This is purely taken from CCTV along the route passed by the perpetrators, not from artificial intelligence,” said Iman during a press conference on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
The main perpetrator was wearing a blue batik shirt, while the pillion rider wore a black T-shirt.
One of the perpetrators changed the batik shirt for a red T-shirt on Jalan Diponegoro.
The two perpetrators passed through the Matraman Underpass heading towards Jatinegara.
“According to police data, the two perpetrators are initialled BHC and MAK. It is not impossible that there are more than four perpetrators,” he said.
The police did not specify the initials of the facial photographs of the perpetrators shown. Metro Jaya Police will also coordinate with the TNI regarding the soldiers involved in this case.
“The four alleged perpetrators are from the TNI’s Bais Denma,” said Yusri during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
They are Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.
“Their superiors are from the Navy and Air Force,” he explained.
Previously reported, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, became a victim of a sulphuric acid attack by unknown individuals on Thursday night (12/3/2026) in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.
Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim suffered burns to about 24 percent of his body.
KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya said the incident occurred after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), Menteng, Jakarta.
As a result of the acid attack, Andrie Yunus must undergo intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
