Sragen Police have arrested Suparman alias Blendus (53), the robber who killed Bilqis Rajiansyah Lestari (11) in Dawung Village, Jenar, Sragen, Central Java. Suparman was arrested at his home in Bumiaji Village, Gondang, Sragen, on Tuesday evening. After being arrested, Suparman was immediately taken to the Sragen Police headquarters. From photographs received, Suparman appeared to be sitting in a wheelchair with both calves bandaged. The man looked lethargic as officers escorted him into the Sragen Police station. Sragen Police Chief AKBP Dewiana Syamsu Indiyasari stated that the perpetrator was successfully apprehended around 11.00 pm local time. The perpetrator was captured at his home located in Kedung Sopo, Bumiaji Village, Gondang District, Sragen. “The perpetrator goes by the name Suparman alias Blendus, and his daily work is as a farm labourer or thresher operator. His current status is that he is still considered a lone perpetrator,” she said when met at the Sragen Police headquarters on Wednesday. Dewiana stated that the perpetrator was desperate to kill the victim because he wanted to take possession of the victim’s property. Evidence including a Honda Vario motorcycle and a mobile phone belonging to the victim had been sold by the perpetrator to another party. “We have recovered all the evidence, both the motorcycle and the phone. We have also detained the person who bought the motorcycle for further investigation,” she revealed. Dewiana disclosed that Suparman is in fact a recidivist who has been imprisoned twice for similar cases with the same criminal pattern, namely violent theft resulting in the death of the victim. It was previously reported that Bilqis (11) was found dead in a horrifying condition inside her home in Dawung Village, Jenar, Sragen, on Friday around 4.00 pm local time. According to Dawung Village Head Aris Sudaryanto, the primary school student’s body was discovered by her mother, Dewi Sri Lestari (34), who had just returned home from work. “The condition of the body had many slash marks on the hands and face. Her face was even unrecognisable. There were also many footprints on the floor, and the blood had already dried. Because of that, I immediately ordered all residents to leave and prohibited anyone from taking photographs,” said Aris when met at the scene of the incident on Friday evening. Besides killing the victim, the perpetrator is also believed to have made off with a blue Honda Vario motorcycle belonging to the victim’s parents.
