Fabregas admits Como had to work hard to beat Cagliari

Writer for KOMPAS.com - Como 1907 clinched an important victory in Week 28 of Serie A 2025-2026.

The Lombardy side defeated Cagliari 2-1 at Unipol Domus on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

Como opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Martin Baturina.

That early pressure gave the visitors confidence throughout the first half.

The hosts levelled at the start of the second half. In the 56th minute, Sebastiano Esposito scored to make it 1-1.

Como restored their lead in the 76th minute. Lucas Da Cunha converted a chance to put his side back in front. The 2-1 scoreline held until the final whistle.

That result was Como’s 14th victory of the Serie A season.

The three points strengthened the position of the club owned by the Djarum Group at the top of the Serie A table.

According to him, the victory came as the team faced a busy schedule and the squad’s condition was not entirely ideal.

“This is the most satisfying win for me this season, and it is the most difficult win,” Fabregas said, quoted by DAZN.

He explained that the team’s situation in recent weeks had been quite tough.

“Why? We knew it would be a very difficult match, 63 days in 15 games with many injuries and a squad not built for a schedule like this.”

“We are all physically exhausted.”

In addition to league matches, Como are also competing in the Coppa Italia. A few days earlier, they played the first leg of the semi-final against Inter Milan.
