FA Cup Final Preview: Chelsea vs Man City – The Blues Facing Defensive Concerns
Bad news has hit the Chelsea camp ahead of the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium. Tall centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is reported to have suffered an injury during training and is doubtful to feature in The Blues’ defence in tomorrow’s crucial match.
According to Sky Sports, Tosin will be in a race against time and will undergo a final fitness test just before the Chelsea vs Manchester City match begins.
Tosin has played an important role in Chelsea’s journey to the final, including keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 victory over Leeds United in the semi-final, which was also the first win under interim manager Calum McFarlane. Despite losing their tallest defender, Chelsea are not said to be too worried.
The return of Levi Colwill, who has been declared fit, is a boost for McFarlane. In addition, Wesley Fofana is also expected to be ready to fill the position left by Tosin. Colwill’s presence is expected to fill the gap in the back line to contain the aggressiveness of Manchester City’s attack, led by Erling Haaland.
Outside of the technical preparations, the atmosphere at Chelsea is also coloured by transfer news and the departure of star players. Chelsea striker Joao Pedro is reportedly on the radar of Barcelona. The sports director of the Catalan club is said to be in London to discuss the potential transfer of the Brazilian player.
