Extreme weather conditions in recent days have the potential to cause fallen trees, flash floods, and high coastal waves.

Bengkulu City Government has deployed its Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) personnel around the clock to respond to public disaster reports, following persistent periods of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in the city over the past few days.

Bengkulu City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Chief I Made Wardana stated, “We urge the public to remain vigilant, especially when outdoors. Recent extreme weather poses risks of fallen trees, flash floods, and high coastal waves.”

Current unstable weather conditions, including heavy rainfall with strong winds, could trigger hydro-meteorological disasters. Such conditions are dangerous as trees and billboards may fall unexpectedly.

Residents in low-lying areas and along riverbanks are advised to be cautious of potential flash floods and actively monitor water levels to anticipate sudden flood surges.

Wardana also urged fishermen and coastal tourism operators to continuously monitor weather updates from the Bengkulu Meteorological Agency (BMKG) before heading out to sea or engaging in coastal activities. “BMKG’s information is crucial to ensure fishermen avoid severe weather,” he added.

The public is requested to immediately report any disasters in their vicinity via emergency services or by contacting the Bengkulu City BPBD’s Call Center 112 or relevant local agencies to ensure prompt response.
