Extreme Weather Causes Trees to Fall on Toll Road, Jasa Marga Evacuates
JAKARTA - Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit parts of Jakarta and its surroundings on Sunday afternoon (12/04/2026). The extreme weather conditions resulted in several trees falling and disruptions to facilities at various points along the toll roads. Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad (JMT) Regional Division recorded fallen trees at several locations, including KM 8 and KM 10 on the Jagorawi Toll Road towards Bogor, as well as KM 30 towards Jakarta. Similar incidents were also observed on the JORR Toll Road at KM 35 towards Jakarta. In addition to fallen trees, facility disruptions occurred in the form of a collapsed advertising board frame in the area of the Halim 2 Toll Gate on the Inner City Toll Road. Extreme weather not only affected the Jakarta region but also West Java. The high continuous rainfall caused flooding at the Rest Area KM 149. Based on field monitoring, the flooding was due to backwater overflow from the Cinambo River on the side of the Rest and Service Area (TIP) KM 149 B. Jasa Marga deployed two 5-inch outlet water pump units to accelerate the water drainage process. Jasa Marga stated that personnel from Representative Offices 1, 2, and 3, along with Jasamarga Tollroad Operator (JMTO) and Jasamarga Related Business (JMRB), were on the ground to handle the issues. They carried out the evacuation of fallen tree materials, management of affected facilities, and traffic regulation to ensure the safety and comfort of road users. Jasa Marga also expressed apologies for the inconvenience caused. Road users are advised to remain cautious, pay attention to traffic signs and officer instructions, and plan their travel time and routes accordingly.
