Extreme Drought: 162 Families in South Tangerang Require Clean Water Supply
As many as 162 families (KK) in Keranggan Urban Village, Setu District, South Tangerang (Tangsel), Banten, are in need of clean water supplies due to the impact of the extreme 2026 dry season drought.
“The total number affected as of today is 162 families. Meanwhile, the amount of clean water distributed is around 73,100 litres,” said the Secretary of the South Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Essa Nugraha, quoting Antara on Sunday (26/7).
He explained that the 162 families affected by the clean water crisis span residential areas in RT 02/01, RT 04/02, RT 01/02, RT 13/05, RT 03/01, RT 06/02, RT 12/05 and lastly RT 05/02.
“The handling locations are in RT 001 RW 01, RT 012 RW 05 and RT 004 RW 02. Additionally, RT 005 RW 02 as well as RT 006 RW 02,” he said.
Essa said that, given the situation, the regional government immediately dispatched a distribution of 18,050 litres of clean water to meet the needs of affected residents.
This step, he said, received support from water utility PDAM Tirta Traya Cisadane Serpong, the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Centre (BBWSCC) and PT Sinar Mas Land BSD. The vehicles used included a 4,000-litre water tanker truck from the South Tangerang Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency.
“A BBWSCC partnership water tanker truck with a capacity of 8,000 litres, a PT Sinar Mas Land BSD water tanker truck with a capacity of 5,000 litres. Plus a PMI South Tangerang pickup with a water tower of 1,050 litres,” he disclosed.
Previously, the drought affecting Keranggan Urban Village in Setu District had begun to spread. The number of locations experiencing a clean water crisis increased from three locations to four.
“As a result, the South Tangerang BPBD once again channelled clean water assistance to affected residents. In this distribution, BPBD channelled clean water to four points in Keranggan Urban Village, namely RT 02/RW 01, RT 04/RW 02, RT 11/RW 04 and RT 13/RW 05,” Essa explained.
