Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Elkhereiji, representing Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, attended an extraordinary meeting of the Open Executive Committee at the level of foreign ministers of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah. The meeting was held specifically to discuss recent developments regarding Israeli occupation in Palestinian territories.

In his opening remarks, Elkhereiji stated that the practices of the Israeli occupation authorities represent a genuine threat to world peace. He emphasised the importance of strengthening collective Islamic action and coordinating the positions of OIC member states to address security challenges in the region.

Main Focus of Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister’s Speech:

Elkhereiji explained that peace efforts must be based on a coherent framework, referring to the New York Declaration, the Comprehensive Peace Plan, and UN Security Council Resolution 2803. This framework aims to strengthen the capacity of the Palestinian National Authority and ensure territorial unity between Gaza and the West Bank.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains committed to continuing cooperation with international partners to achieve just peace in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative. “We need to advance practical measures that translate commitments into concrete actions,” Elkhereiji stated in the forum.

On this occasion, Saudi Arabia also expressed appreciation for efforts led by United States President Donald Trump in the context of regional peace. Coordination with the United States was valued as a genuine opportunity to end the conflict and promote stable regional integration.

On the other hand, Elkhereiji also expressed Saudi Arabia’s concern over increasing military tensions and hostile rhetoric among member states. He condemned any violation of sovereignty and called on all parties to exercise restraint (de-escalation).

In conclusion, the Saudi delegation reaffirmed that lasting security can only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy, and principles of mutual respect between nations without interference in internal affairs. The peaceful settlement of disputes remains the Kingdom’s primary priority in maintaining stability in the Middle East region.
