Yaqut’s Denial
Previously, it was reported that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) formally detained former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in the hajj quota corruption case.
Yaqut was detained after undergoing questioning at the KPK’s Red and White Building in his capacity as a suspect on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Yaqut came down from the second floor examination room at approximately 18:45 Western Indonesian Time. Yaqut was wearing an orange vest with both hands shackled.
Yaqut at that time affirmed that he had never received a single rupiah in the alleged bribery case. “I have never received a single rupiah from the case being attributed to me, and I implemented all of these policies solely for the safety of the pilgrims,” said Yaqut as he was taken to a detention vehicle on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
