Extra supervision for high schools
JAKARTA (JP): City Security and Order chief Kusaeni has announced that the Jakarta section of the Agency for National Stability and Security (Bakorstanasda Jaya) will carry out extra surveillance at 50 high schools in Jakarta.
The surveillance operation has been code-named Wijaya Kusuma ("Flower Victory"), he said yesterday.
"The operation is aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency, including street brawls," Kusaeni said, as quoted by Antara.
He said most of the 50 schools are located in the Central Jakarta mayoralty. The others are in South and East Jakarta.
"In selecting the schools which need extra supervision, we have studied the involvement of each school in recent brawls," Kusaeni said.
He said the operation would involve all military command posts in the city, city police, the city's security and order office and the ministry of education and culture.
Kusaeni said the operation would focus on the classroom, the schools' surroundings and places prone to juvenile crimes such as bus terminals, movie houses and shopping malls.
He said the operation would be held annually.(mas)
