JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - InJourney Airports has added hundreds of extra flights to anticipate the surge in return traffic for Eid al-Fitr 2026. This step is taken in line with the increasing demand for air travel.

InJourney Airports CEO Mohammad R. Pahlevi explained that the number of extra flights has continued to rise in recent days. On 22 March 2026, there were 124 extra flights recorded. This number increased to 211 extra flights on 23 March 2026. On 24 March 2026, the figure rose again to 284 extra flights.

“We are optimising all airport resources, including flight slot times. For 25 March 2026, 119 extra flights are planned,” said Pahlevi in an official statement on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

“These extra flights are in addition to the regular scheduled flights. The number of extra flights still has the potential to continue increasing until the Eid transport period ends on 30 March 2026,” Pahlevi revealed.

Traffic monitoring is being carried out intensively. Coordination with various stakeholders is being strengthened to maintain smooth services at the airports.

Optimisation of slot times is the main focus. Adjustments are made considering airport capacity, especially during peak hours.

“InJourney Airports, together with stakeholders, particularly airlines, continues to optimise slot times at the airports,” Pahlevi explained.

“One of them is through the operation of additional flights or extra flights by airlines. This is in line with the growing demand for air travel during the return flow,” he added.

The number on 23 March 2026 increased to 536,109 passengers with 3,636 flights. The increase reached 14.4 percent.
