Extortionists nabbed in West Jakarta

The West Jakarta military garrison arrested 11 juvenile
extortionists on Wednesday involved in a mass brawl with high
school students in front of the Sumber Waras hospital.

The commander of the West Jakarta military garrison, Lt. Col.
I.P. Sisworo, said that the extortionists posed as students on
public buses.

Those arrested were carrying sharp objects and 18 belts fixed
with metal buckles which are potential weapons.

In an attempt to promote peace and security in the city the
district military garrison has been monitoring hazardous areas in
West Jakarta.

Sisworo identified the Tomang flyover, the Slipi intersection,
Kalideres bus terminal and Beos train station as crime prone
areas.

He said that such acts will quickly be dealt with, adding that
students could report them to the 0503 military district on 331-
100, 310-1188 extension 19142 for the Tamansari district,
19143/19144 for Tambora , 19146 for Grogol Petamburan, 19147 for
Cengkareng and 19149/19150 for Kebon Jeruk. (mds)
